Dr. Sadeep Shrestha

Being a recipient of the Quetelet Endowed Professorship in Public Health and a Professor (tenured) of Epidemiology in the School of Public Health at UAB, he has strong collaboration with investigators in Nepal and serves in several academic and NGO boards and committees. His background spans the fields of epidemiology, genetics, molecular biology, forensic science, informatics and big data. He has served on advisory board of several NCI-funded training programs (Cancer Prevention and Control Training Program (CPCTP), Cancer Research Experiences for Students (CaRES), Partnership Research Student Training Program (PRSTP), and Summer Cancer Research Education Program (SCREP); thus, has experience mentoring students with various cancer projects including several HPV-associated cancers. He serves as the director of the Nepal Health Initiative at UAB and has conducted several projects in Nepal, mainly in HPV and cervical cancer screening. He also serves as a senior advisory member for NFCC, Faculty Development Advisory Board at Kathmandu University. Over the past 12 years, a HPV Research program and developed a data co-coordinating center has been initiated at NFCC.

Madhav Prasad Bhatta

Being an infectious disease epidemiologist with subject matter and methodologic training, experience, and expertise in epidemiology, human papillomavirus (HPV) and cervical cancer, and global health, he has graduated training in epidemiology—specifically infectious disease epidemiology with focus on sexually transmitted infections including human papillomavirus-- and global health. Complementing his methodological skills are his experience and expertise in conducting research in international settings and among immigrant populations in the United States. On the practice side of health, he serves as an advisor to two international non-governmental organizations ( Senior Public Health Advisor, Back to Life e.V., Germany/Nepal; Advisor, NFCC, Nepal) working on women and children’s health issues in Nepal, thus understands the implementation aspects of a health project.

Derek Christopher Johnson

Being an infectious disease epidemiologist whose research is focused on Human Immunodeficiency Virus HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI), particularly in low and middle-income countries, he has experience of extensive training in epidemiological research methods, particularly in low and middle-income countries along with high proficiency in analyzing data, producing peer-reviewed publications, and managing epidemiological research projects, both domestically and internationally.
