Screening Camps conducted

NFCC has conducted a number of screening camps acroos Nepal. Some of them are as follows:

Nested pilot in a cervical cancer screening camp in Patan, Lalitpur District

Screening Camp in Lalitpur District, Province 3 (previously Central Development Region)

This camp was conducted in Khokana municipality on 12th February 2013. This was done in collaboration with the local Khokana women co-operative. The assessment of the knowledge was done by distributing Nepali language survey question on socio-demographic, reproductive health, HPV, cervical cancer and the HPV vaccine.  Despite very low knowledge among these women they had high acceptance of HPV vaccine if available free to their children.

Screening Camp in Achham District, Province 7 (previously Far Western Development Region)

This camp was held on July 5th 2013 at Sanphenagar village Development committee. There were 362 participants at the camp. Women were provided both self-collected and clinician collected cervico-vaginal specimens.  These specimens were preserved in a cold chain on a required temperature. It was then sent to United States for the test and the result received was passed to the individual client by NFCC field worker. All the HPV positive clients are referred for VIA test in nearby hospitals. Comprehensive follow up is taken via phone and continuity of care has been providing.

Screening Camp in Jhapa District, Province 1 (previously Eastern Development Region)

The camp was carried out in Damak municipality in April 2013 by NFCC in conjunction with Nari Sanshaktikaran, Jhapa. All the HPV positive cases are referred for VIA test in Ghopa hospital, Dharan. There has been continuity in the clients follow up both by the NFCC field worker and phone call. 

VIA screening in Kathmandu Valley

In partnership with National Cervical Cancer Foundation (NCCF), NFCC conducts regular VIA screening camps across the Kathmandu Valley. These camps are organized based on requests from different organizations, groups and communities. All VIA positive cases are referred for NCCF clinic for further investigations. Mobiles are actively used to follow up on positive women who haven’t completed screening and/or treatment thereby ensuring continuum of care which is a key component of NFCCs’ cervical cancer advocacy.
