PIL against Government of Nepal on Rishi Panchami holiday for women

According to Hinduism, Rishi Panchami is a day woman can seek forgiveness for having defiled anything by touching them when menstruating in the past one year. The Government of Nepal always gives Rishi Panchami as a national holiday to women. In 2017, NFCC filed a PIL against Government of Nepal, demanding a withdrawal of Rishi Panchami as a national holiday to women as it perpetuates the notion that women are impure when menstruating on Rishi Panchami and Nepal, declared a secular country cannot give holiday on these grounds. The holiday has since 2017 been withdrawn.
